Moreno With a Goal and Assist
Atlanta Latinos Magazine – ATLANTA, GA – Atlanta United kicked off the Memorial Day weekend with a 2-2 draw. On a beautiful 72 degree day, with the roof open at Mercedes-Benz stadium, Atlanta jumped out to a 2-0 lead but could not hold on.
Atlanta scored early in the match, as Marcelino Moreno found the back of the net in the 8th minute. Miles Robinson made a superb long pass to earn the assist. It was the first assist of his major league career.
Atlanta would later tack on another goal. In the 51st minute, Erik Lopez scored his first goal of the season. An assist was credited to both George Bello and Moreno.
But the Atlanta lead would not stand. Nashville SC scored two late goals. Hany Mukhtar scored in the 81st and 83rd minutes.
Nashville SC had entered the game without a blemish and left unscathed. It was the fifth tie out of seven matches, putting its a record of 2-0-5. Meanwhile, Atlanta has not lost home and recorded its fourth tie of the year.
Atlanta now enters a three week international break. Its next game is Sunday, June 20 at home against Philadelphia Union.
