Atlanta United vs. Seattle

Match Ends in 2-2 Draw

Miranchuk Scores Late Goal

Atlanta Latinos Magazine – Another match, another draw.  Atlanta recorded its tenth draw this season in 24 matches with a 2-2 draw against the Seattle Sounders Saturday night at Mercedes Benz Stadium.  With only four wins, Atlanta remains at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings.  The hopes of reaching the playoffs dwindle with each passing game.

Atlanta got off to a great start.  In the 7’, Atlanta’s Latte Lath shot towards the goal.  The ball was re-directed by a Seattle defender, which deflected into the goal for an own goal.  Playing inspired soccer both offensively and defensively, Atlanta maintained the 1-0 lead through halftime.

But Atlanta’s Achilles heel season has been the first 15 minutes after halftime.  And that didn’t change tonight.  Seattle tied up the match 1-1 with a goal in the 54’.  Pedro de la Vega scored his third goal of the season.

The match remained tied 1-1 until stoppage time.  Seattle’s Osaze De Rosario found the back of the net in the 95’, notching his first ever MLS goal.

That appeared to be the game winner.  However, Atlanta’s Alexey Miranchuk had other ideas.  In the 99’, on the game’s final touch, he drilled home an unbelievable laser beam past a diving and helpless Seattle goalkeeper.  Miguel Almiron was credited with the assist.

Notes…Luke Brennan made his second start of the season for Atlanta and had a solid performance at left wingback…the head referee had to be replaced in the 77’ due to what appeared to be an injury…Almiron earned his sixth assist, which places him second on the team behind Saba Lobjanidze…Atlanta’s newly acquired center back Enea Mihaj made his team debut in the 65’…attendance was announced as 40,409.
