Emerging 100 Atlanta’s “She Thrives” event created a purposeful space for women across generations to connect, reflect, and redefine what it means to sustain leaders

ATLANTA — On April 12, more than 100 young leaders  gathered for “The Rise: She Thrives Sustaining the Leader Within” presented by the Emerging 100 Atlanta and fueled by Gas South. What unfolded was  meaningful environment where these collegiate women could pause, reflect, and be poured into just as much as they give.

“April 12th was truly special. Women from across our community came together not just to attend, but to be present. To share, reflect, and pour into one another in ways that were honest and needed,” said Emerging 100 Atlanta President Daniel Farr. “What we experienced wasn’t just an event, but a clear reflection of what happens when a community shows up with purpose.”

The experience centered on one question:  “What does it take to sustain success, not just achieve it?”

That conversation began with Panel 1, “The Ecosystem That Sustains You,” where leaders spoke openly about the networks that support their journeys. Moderator Niesha Brand led the conversation with Lorraine Cochran-Johnson, CEO of DeKalb County,  Tai Roberson of Wells Fargo and Justine Boyd of the United Negro College Fund to discuss the mentors, sponsors, and communities that helped shape their paths and why building those support systems is critical at every stage of leadership.

Panel 2, “Protecting the Leader Within,” invited attendees into a more reflective and honest dialogue about the internal demands of leadership. Moderated by 11Alive anchor Faith Jessie, the conversation moved beyond professional milestones and into the realities leaders often navigate quietly. Jemea Dorsey of the Center for Black Women’s Wellness, Jil Jordan Greene of Paradies Lagardère, and Careshia Moore of Compete to Succeed shared personal stories of resilience, growth, and the ongoing work required to remain grounded while leading.

More than 100 young women from the Collegiate 100 (C100) Leadership Development Program attended, representing Georgia State University, Spelman College, Clark Atlanta University, and Oglethorpe University.

The program connects students with mentorship, leadership development, and career guidance creating a pipeline that brings emerging talent into direct conversation with Atlanta’s established leaders.
