Burger King plans to hire up to 60K employees amid nationwide initiative

WASHINGTON — Burger King is launching a nationwide hiring initiative as it seeks to add up to 60,000 new employees to its restaurants. 

The fast-food chain announced the hiring push last week, saying it was offering entry level roles all the way to management positions. According to Burger King, the hiring push is part of the brand’s “most transformative period” in years ad they modernize restaurants and improve operations.

“We’ve done the important work of strengthening our operations, modernizing our restaurants, and listening to our guests, and it’s paying off,” Tom Curtis, President, Burger King U.S. and Canada said in a news release on April 2.  “Now we need great people to help us keep that momentum going – people who are passionate, hardworking, and genuinely friendly. A warm welcome goes a long way, and the Team Members who bring that energy every day are at the heart of what makes the Burger King experience special. “

Earlier this year, Burger King gave the “Whopper” its first makeover in nearly a decade.

According to the company, the new version will feature a premium bun, creamier mayonnaise and will be served in a clamshell box rather than paper wrapping. The new burger will cost franchisees more, but Burger King is urging them not to raise prices.

The company said the changes come after customer complaints of smashed burgers that were falling apart. Burger King had previously  invited consumers to share their feedback and improvement ideas with the company’s president via call or text.
