Windshield wiper blades could break, causing a visibility hazard and increasing the risk of a crash.
DETROIT — More than 422,000 Ford and Lincoln vehicles are being recalled because their windshield wiper arms may break unexpectedly.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration noted the defect is a visibility hazard that increases the risk of a crash.
The recall covers a wide range of popular Ford trucks and large SUVs from recent model years.
- Ford F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550 and F-600 Super Duty pickups (2022–2023)
- Ford Expedition (2021–2023)
- Lincoln Navigator (2021–2023)
If you own one of these vehicles, you can check your specific VIN at nhtsa.gov to see if it is affected.
Dealers will inspect the wiper arms and replace them if needed, at no cost to owners, but repair parts may be in short supply.
Interim letters warning owners about the safety risk are expected to go out April 13. A second round of notices will follow once the actual repair parts are ready and available at dealerships, meaning some owners could be waiting before they can get the work done.
NHTSA hasn’t issued specific interim guidance, but if your wipers feel loose, skip, or behave oddly, it’s worth calling your dealer now rather than waiting for a letter to arrive in the mail.
Ford’s customer service line is 1-866-436-7332, and the company’s internal recall number is 26S24. You can also reach NHTSA’s Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236, or visit nhtsa.gov for more information.
