HENRY COUNTY, Ga. — The Henry County Board of Commissioners has announced a leadership change in its county government, ending the tenure of County Manager Cheri Matthews effective immediately.
In a statement released Wednesday, officials said the move reflects a decision to take county operations in a new direction as the area continues to grow and evolve.
Board Chair Carlotta Harrell said the change is tied to long-term strategic priorities and the need to align leadership with increasing service demands.
“Henry County is experiencing significant growth, evolving service demands, and new opportunities that require a more strategic approach,” Harrell said. “The Board has determined that a change in leadership is necessary to align our organizational structure with the needs and expectations of our residents.”
Officials thanked Matthews for her service and wished her well moving forward.
The board said interim leadership and next steps in the transition process will be announced in the coming days. County officials added that services and operations will continue without interruption.
