NEW YORK — Netflix hiked subscription prices across all of its U.S. streaming plans Thursday, the second price increase in just over a year.
The streamer’s ad-supported plan is now $8.99 a month, up from $7.99. The standard plan without ads is now $19.99 a month, up from $17.99. The premium plan is now $26.99, up from $24.99.
The company also raised the cost of its “extra member” fee by $1, to $6.99 for ad-supported plans and $9.99 for ad-free plans.
New members who sign up will see the new plan prices starting Thursday, March 26. The higher prices will roll out to existing members over the coming weeks. According to Netflix, existing members will be notified by email a month before the new prices are applied to them, with the timing depending on the member’s billing cycle.
In a statement, Netflix said, “Our approach remains the same: We continue offering a range of prices and plans to meet a variety of needs, and as we deliver more value to our members we are updating our prices to enable us to reinvest in quality entertainment and improve their experience.”
Netflix last raised prices in January 2025. Since then, updates to the the company’s platform have included the rollout of video podcasts, as well as more livestreaming content. The company also recently announced plans to revamp its mobile app and expand its short-form video feature.
The new increases come as Netflix last month backed out of a bid for Warner Bros. Discovery, clearing the way for Paramount to take over the company.
Most major streamers have raised prices in recent years. Netflix, with more than 300 million global subscribers, remains the largest streaming service worldwide.
