A 4-year-old’s perspective of Monster Jam in Atlanta. The Pit Party to the main event at EchoPark Speedway, featuring trucks, noise and one favorite: Sparkle Smash.

ATLANTA — Monster Jam returned to EchoPark Speedway this past weekend, bringing massive trucks, loud engines and a full day of activity for families across metro Atlanta.

This time, instead of just breaking down the event itself, we followed the experience through a different lens — my 4-year-old niece’s.

From the moment Claire Nguyen stepped into the Pit Party, it was less about the schedule and more about what caught her attention first.

“I see the shark one,” she said, scanning the lineup of trucks.

As she moved from one display to the next, her focus quickly narrowed to a favorite.

“That one’s my favorite,” she said. “Sparkle Smash.”

Throughout the Pit Party, the experience was all about getting close to the trucks, pointing them out, taking photos and deciding which ones stood out most. Kids could climb on small construction equipment and play in a dig area. Ahead of the main event, there was also a BMX show, along with extra-cost add-ons like a Monster Jam slide and merchandise stands.

Once the main event began, that perspective shifted from looking at the trucks up close to watching them take over the track.

And for at least one 4-year-old, it all came back to the same thing: finding her favorite truck.
