Costa Rica SHB Ep Tarrazu La Pastora Coffee Beans (Light Roast (City), 2.5 pounds Whole Beans)

The Costa Rica SHB Tarrazu “La Pastora” coffees are rated some of the finest in the world. These beans are grown at high altitudes, above 1200 – 1800 m allowing them to be designated Single Hard Bean – the highest classification in the Costa Rican system. The soil is mostly volcanic and gives the beans a high acidity. Coopetarrazu is a driving force in the community. Besides being the largest employer in the region, it is constantly training its associates in the latest techniques to improve quality and production. Its workers are protected by an occupational safety program supervised by INS, the Costa Rican insurance company. Recycling and education programs have been introduced in the community by the cooperative’s staff and thousands of dollars are donated every year to worthy programs in the region. Though not as renown as other coffee such a Kona or Jamaica, the quality of Tarrazu is quickly being recognized by coffee connoisseurs. Tarrazu coffee is growing through word of mouth and through coffee aficianados rather than by marketing, making its stage on the world market slow but steady. The Tarrazu coffee region of Costa Rica won’t be kept a secret for much longer. Costa Rican coffee beans are graded by the hardness of the bean. This is determined by the altitude at which they are grown: – (SHB) strictly hard bean is a coffee grown above 3,900 feet. – (GHB) good hard bean grow at 3,300 to 3,900 feet. – (MHB) medium hard bean grown at 1,600 to 3,300 feet. Roast: Full City: I think this coffee has best balance of fruit and chocolate at FC roast.

  1. excellent flavor Have tried several whole bean coffees from Amazon, so far this is my favorite. It has excellent flavor, it actually has a taste. Wife says taste “beany” but her favorite is dark roasts that taste more like char then have a flavor. I’ve found a good compromise is mixing this roast with some of the “Costa Rica SHB Ep Tarrazu La Pastora Coffee Beans (Dark Roast (Espresso)”, same beans just a darker roast. I mix 7 part of this to 1 part of the dark roast and we are both happy with…

  2. Disappointed First off, let me say I love Costa Rican Coffee. I have been to coffee plantations there. That’s how much I like it.I also generally like lighter roast coffees for non-espresso drinks due to the slightly higher caffeine content as a result of less roasting. Those things said, I thought this was going to be a no-brainer.I have tried brewing these beans MANY ways… grinding the beans to different size grounds, more beans, less beans, more water, less water,…

  3. This is no joke. Fantastic and smooth. I roast my own coffee beans at home. But, in the winter, I typically get some beans online and suffer through. This coffee is roasted perfectly. Costa Rica Tarrazu is a fantastic cup of coffee, and these folks know how to roast it! I’d love to hear what they roast with, and I could do without the flag and eagle stuff, but my God, they know their stuff. This is award winning coffee. No question. Customer for life. And, it’s better than anything I’ve ever roasted… and I’m roasting for me!
