  1. Not For Serious Woodworkers I bought this planer in October of 2107. It replaced a Delta 22-540 I had owned for over 20 years. Here’s the good, the bad and the ugly. The finish this planer leaves behind is almost flawless. That’s the good. The bad is the knives dull very quickly. The ugly is this can bog down the planer and cause the motor overload to trip right in the middle of a board.I was planing 4/4 walnut 8″ wide. I had just installed fresh knives. Each pass only 1/64″. Pretty slow…

  2. Great planer I love this thing. I’m new to woodworking so my knowledge of planers is super limited. This thing really rips the wood down that I throw through it. Word of warning for new woodworkers with no experience in planers. If you are doing a finished piece of wood for something like a cutting board, or a finished piece of furniture, it is a suggestion that you glue a waste piece of wood to the end of your run, meaning if you don’t, you run the risk of the planer taking a hunk out of the piece. 3. Worth the extra money great planer I had a Ridgid planer go out after for years and it is still being repaired( over a month and a half). I could not wait any longer to finish my projects so I upgraded to the dewault. It is well worth the investment. This planer is a little quieter then the Ridgid planer. The extra tables are a plus i actually made a outfeed table and then used the brakets to attach it(see picture). The exhuast fan is a plus I use the Vortex dust collector from Rockler and you don’t even need the vaccum…
