Easy to use, but no preview functionality I used to use a Honktai SD card reader, and unfortunately, an iOS upgrade hosed the abilities of that reader, so this was my replacement. Overall, I am satisfied with the product. The construction is better than my old Honktai (the lightning adapter was right on the reader, so I had to take my case off), and this is even slightly smaller. Unlike my Honktai, this reader doesn’t require a special add, but uses the normal file import function in the Apple software. The one downside? You can not preview the photos in full size on your photo, which I used to be able to do with my Honktai. I could take 2-3,000 photos in a given trip, and I really don’t want to have to import all of them onto my phone. I like to preview before I import.
Works as designed, I think. This product has worked as described. My gripe may end up being with Moultrie (my trail camera mfg) versus this device, but be forewarned that when you import photos using this to an iPhone, the pictures are cropped. I deleted a bunch of photos because I thought nothing was captured only to find when I texted them to someone, more of the photo was seen and they could see the full picture. I think it’s a glitch with Moultrie.
Does just one thing, and does it well This little device does only one thing, but it does it really, really well. The build quality is goodâit looks like it could have come from Apple. It seems sturdy enough, but if I managed to drop it, paying another $10 for a replacement wouldnât break my heart. I have a Sony Cybershot camera which has a cable which was great for plugging the camera into my iPhone or iPad, but a few generations ago, with the wide connector. With my iPad Air and iPhone 8, I have a Lightning connector. I pop the SD card out of my camera, put it into this gadget; thereâs a icon on one side that shows how the card needs to be facing. Then an icon comes up on my iOS device asking if I want to Import. I can see all the pictures on the SD card, easily select or deselect, then import. I then put them right into iCloud Photo Sharing. Itâs convenient and fast.
