Harrison Fair celebrated his centennial on March 31 and was honored at the Cross Keys Village in Oxford Township on Monday.

ADAMS COUNTY, Pa. — A local World War II Veteran recently celebrated a major accomplishment — turning 100 years old.

Harrison Fair celebrated his centennial on March 31 and was honored on Monday at the Cross Keys Village in Oxford Township, Adams County.

Fair enlisted in the Army Air Corps when he was 17, where he served as a radio operator, mechanic and gunner.

He’s done a lot since the end of his deployment, including working as postmaster in York Springs for more than 20 years. He credits his longevity to discipline, faith and his family’s support.

“I prayed 70 or 80 years ago, daily, that God would give me wisdom, the right use of my mind, and he calls me home. Boy, he answered prayer. Like it or not, I am me,” Fair said.

Fair is the last remaining WWII Veteran at the facility. He was presented with House citations by Rep. Catherine Wallen, as did Miriam Mills and Dorothy Greer, two other Cross Keys Village residents who recently turned 100.
